 About Erik
For those of you who have met Erik Strickland, you will quickly find he is not only passionate about teaching others about grooming and handling, but also very genuine. Whether he likes to admit it or not, his dog show career has been extremely impressive. For twenty five years, Erik graced the show rings as a sought-after professional handler. He not only racked up Best in Shows in the United States, but internationally as well. Judges, clients, breeders and exhibitors alike have all made reference to his consistent professionalism. His reputation is something he takes very seriously.
Erik made the decision he would "retire" as a handler at the end of 2006 – going out on top with the Number One Golden Retriever in the country. He then decided he would start sharing with others the knowledge he had attained from perfecting his handling and grooming skills over the years. He feels it is time to give back to the "dog show world."
About Jennifer
Jennifer Strickland’s venture in showing dogs has been that of an owner/handler. Like Erik, she started showing over twenty five years ago – but began in junior showmanship. While she obviously respects professional handlers immensely, she whole-heartedly believes in showing her own dogs. So…one of the goals of Strickland Sensations, giving the owner/handler an edge, is especially important to her! Even though Shelties were her first breed, Jennifer eventually gravitated toward English Setters - taking her father’s kennel name from the 50’s.
Her love and respect for all animals has carried over into her professional career as well. While taking a few years to try out marketing in the corporate world, she has felt more "at home" over the past decade working in the animal sheltering field - a cause near and dear to her heart. Additionally, Jennifer is enjoying her role as co-owner of Strickland Sensations - focusing on the marketing and creative aspect of the business.
As a professional and personal team, Erik and Jennifer’s backgrounds compliment each other well. Their vision for Strickland Sensations, and life in general, is very similar to the company’s motto: Strive for Perfection… Achieve Excellence!
